The handles are constructed from White core malleable cast iron, and the cutting edge is finished with Yasuki Aogami Steel (Blue Paper Steel) for excellent wear resistance that holds sharp edge for longer service between maintenance. The 225mm size as well as shape and length of the this particular secateurs has historically evolved and established itself as ideal pruning tool throughout silk industry in Japan where the of sericulture / mulberry farms required tools to cut thicker and or harder mulberry branches to feed the silk worms. Built for durability, the handles are built thicker compared to secateurs of 200mm size.
